The venue's events page lists this night, but may not be current.
The third Thursday of each month. Only one source reports it.
The bookshop's own homepage does not mention this event. Its events page shows a flyer captioned 'Flow State: Poetry (No Mic) Open Mic Event,' but the image itself appears to date from around September 2024, so its currency could not be confirmed [s1]. A citywide open-mic table and a Nov. 2024 arts-column description are the other sources, both now over a year old (checked Aug 13, 2026).
This monthly blues residency does not appear on the Boston Bluegrass Union's jam directory, consistent with it being a separately branded residency rather than a union-affiliated jam. This rests on a local arts and events column dated July 9, 2026 — about a month earlier (checked Aug 13, 2026) — which names the residency's fourth year as of that date [s1].
The Boston Bluegrass Union's own jam directory currently lists 'The Burren BG jam 2 pm Somerville, MA' (checked Aug 13, 2026) [s1]. That matches the recorded Saturday 2 PM time exactly. The same directory separately carries an upcoming instance for the venue's Sunday old-time jam, confirming it is actively maintained with current dates.
The Boston Bluegrass Union's own jam directory lists an upcoming 'Burren OT Jam with Alan Kaufman,' Sunday 6:00-9:00 PM at The Burren, 247 Elm St, Somerville (checked Aug 13, 2026) [s1]. That matches the recorded Sunday time and host exactly.
Both sources give the same night and time, but neither confirms recent activity.
Weekly on Tuesdays, 7:30 PM. Something about this has changed recently — confirm before going.
The venue's own event page lists a 'Free Comedy Open-Mic' instance for Tuesday, Oct 13, 2026 at 7:00 PM (checked Aug 13, 2026) [s1]. The venue's homepage lists many current, dated instances of the same open mic, and all of them fall on Tuesday (checked Sep 7, 2026) [s2]. The Thursday slot is a separate curated showcase called 'Certified Fresh,' not an open mic.
The venue's own event page lists 'The Moth: Boston StorySLAM: SERENDIPITY,' Tue. Aug. 25, 2026, 6:30-9:30 PM (checked Aug 13, 2026) [s1]. Aug 25, 2026 is the fourth Tuesday of August 2026, matching the recorded monthly, fourth-Tuesday pattern exactly.
