Saturdays, 4:00 PM. Runs seasonally. Only one source reports it.
A newspaper article about the 'Final Open Mic Night for 2025' says the event concluded its fourth season, running through around September 2025 [s1]. Other outlets have covered the open mic since 2022. A further account describes Alderson's 2026 Fourth of July schedule as including an Open Mic Night at the historic 1896 Train Depot, suggesting the season continued into 2026, though that account could not be confirmed directly.
A news report dated around September 2025 describes 'A Writer's Open Mic' at Writers Station running monthly on the third Saturday [s1]. Other coverage agrees. No signal of the series closing was found.
Weekly on Saturdays, 7:00 PM. The Venue's Website does not mention it.
The Venue's Website does not mention an open mic, and its calendar page does not load. The only dated mention found is from a tourism website in April 2022, too old to confirm whether a Saturday, 7 PM open mic still happens. The weekly Saturday claim comes only from an open-mic listing site.
A regional listing site's calendar shows 'Acoustic Jam @ BlackCat Music' on Friday, Aug 21, 2026, the third Friday of the month, confirming a monthly, third-Friday schedule (checked Aug 14, 2026) [s1].
Thursdays, 9:00 PM. How often is unclear. Only one source reports it.

A listing on panhandle.live lists this night, but may not be current.
A regional listing site's schedule for Aug 13 through Sep 12, 2026 lists only Friday events at BlackCat Music Shop, a first-Friday open mic and a third-Friday acoustic jam, with no Thursday event (checked Aug 14, 2026) [s1]. The Thursday listing traces only to an event listing site that is over 18 months old and gives a conflicting address.
A regional listing site's calendar shows 'Open Mic @ BlackCat Music' on Friday, Sep 4, 2026, the first Friday of the month, confirming a monthly, first-Friday schedule (checked Aug 14, 2026) [s1].
A news read on 2026-09-25 disagrees with the recorded night here: this source says the shop's open mic is a monthly first-Friday event, not tied only to the annual Apple Butter Festival. Which is current is unresolved — check before travelling. Something about this has changed recently — confirm before going.

The sources disagree on the night.
Coverage of the 2025 Apple Butter Festival (Oct 11-12) describes a 'Beer Garden Party' with food trucks and a performance by the Black Cat Village Band, but does not specifically describe an open mic in the block-party format used in 2024. Whether the open mic format continued, changed, or simply was not covered is unknown.
Weekly on Thursdays, 7:00 PM. The Venue's Website does not mention it.
The venue's own homepage, checked Aug 14, 2026, describes only a burger and cocktail restaurant with no mention of live music, jazz, or open mic [s1]. It directs visitors to its Facebook page for updates, which was not checked here. Other sources disagree on the day, with one saying Wednesday is open mic and Thursday is jazz, so the schedule remains unresolved.
The second Thursday of each month, 6:00 PM. Only one source reports it.
A regional listing site's calendar shows 'Open Mic w/Derrick Tea @ The Pub' on Thursday, Aug 13 and Thursday, Sep 10, 2026, both the second Thursday of their month (checked Aug 14, 2026) [s1]. This confirms a monthly, second-Thursday schedule rather than the weekly one previously listed.
A regional listing site's calendar shows 'Old Time Jam w/Dakota Karper @ The River House' on Friday, Aug 14, 2026, the second Friday of the month, confirming a monthly, second-Friday schedule (checked Aug 14, 2026) [s1]. This is separate from the venue's own fourth-Friday Open Mic, a different recurring event.
A regional listing site's calendar shows 'Open Mic @ The River House' on Friday, Aug 28, 2026, the fourth Friday of the month (checked Aug 14, 2026) [s1]. The Venue's Website also states the open mic is held on the fourth Friday of the month [s2].
The venue's own current events calendar lists 'Open Mic! @ The Empty Glass' on Monday, Aug 10 and Monday, Aug 17, 2026, both at 9:00 PM (checked Aug 14, 2026) [s1]. This matches this listing's weekly Monday, 9:00 PM schedule exactly.
Both sources give the same night and time, but neither confirms recent activity.
The venue's own schedule page lists a recurring Monday open mic with dated instances on Sep 7, 14, and 21, 2026, each at 9:00 PM (checked Sep 7, 2026) [s1]. The venue's own home page also lists the address as 410 Elizabeth St, Charleston WV, and phone 304-345-3914 [s2].
A regional listing site's calendar shows 'Open Mic w/Deane Kern @ La Gazelle Coffee' on Friday, Aug 28, 2026, the fourth Friday of the month, confirming a monthly, fourth-Friday schedule (checked Aug 14, 2026) [s1].
A newspaper feature marking the venue's 33rd anniversary (Feb 2025) corrected the schedule from a claimed Thursday weekly mic to the true schedule: Saturday, monthly, on the third Saturday [s1]. Other sources agree. The Venue's Website separately confirms Thursdays are actually a '.50 Wing Night,' not an open mic. No closure signal was found.
A review site's listing for Magic's Bar & Grill, updated March 2026, is not tagged closed, suggesting the venue itself is open, though this says nothing about the Tuesday event specifically [s1]. One listing describes Tuesdays as a live-instrument jam or open mic, while another describes Tuesdays as a karaoke night, and no website was found for the venue to settle which format runs.
Weekly on Wednesdays, 6:00 PM. Only one source reports it.
A regional listing site's calendar shows 'Irish & Old Tyme Music @ The Barn of Harpers Ferry' on every Wednesday shown, Aug 19, 26, and Sep 2, 9, 2026, confirming a weekly schedule (checked Aug 14, 2026) [s1]. One open-mic listing site calls this event 'Open Mic,' while this regional listing site calls it 'Irish & Old Tyme Music'; the day, time, and frequency agree, but the name is unresolved.
Every other Tuesday, 7:00 PM; which weeks is unclear.

The sources disagree about whether it still runs.
A news article, dated Oct. 17, 2016, describes a biweekly Tuesday, 7 p.m. open mic here [s2]. This is the newest positive evidence found, about a decade old. A review site marks the venue 'CLOSED,' last updated December 2024, not a closure date [s1]. Facebook and Instagram pages are both gone, and a 2025 business year-in-review never mentions it. Whether it has closed is unresolved.
The church's own event pages show a recurring 'Open Mic Coffee House' series. One instance is dated March 26, 2026 [s1]. Another is dated March 12, 2026 [s2]. Later event pages show not-found errors, so March 26, 2026 is the most recent confirmed date, about 4.7 months before Aug 14, 2026. The homepage and events page do not name 'Open Mic,' but each event is published only on its own individual page.
The third Monday of each month, 7:00 PM. Only one source reports it.
News articles describe a poetry and author reading series, 'Writers Can Read,' at Heritage Station on the third Monday of the month, 7 to 8:30 PM, appearing from November 2022 through October 2024. The most recent one confirmed the series as of October 2024 [s5]. No newer coverage was found for 2025 or 2026, so whether the series still runs is unknown.

A county tourism board's own page for the Round Barn, last modified Aug 28, 2024, does not mention an open mic anywhere (checked Aug 14, 2026) [s1]. The only dated open mic found was a single evening in the venue's 2023 season lineup, among an otherwise fully booked slate of acts.
A regional listing site's calendar shows 'Open Mic @ Community Cup Coffee and More' on Saturday, Aug 15, 2026, the third Saturday of the month (checked Aug 14, 2026) [s1]. This confirms a monthly, third-Saturday schedule rather than the weekly one previously listed. The Venue's Website, which has no events calendar, does not itself mention the mic.
Weekly on Tuesdays, 8:00 PM. Only one source reports it.
A regional listing site's calendar shows 'Open Mic w/Derrick Tea @ Neon Moon Tavern' on every Tuesday shown, Aug 18, 25, and Sep 1, 8, 2026, confirming a weekly schedule (checked Aug 14, 2026) [s1].

The venue's events page lists this night, but may not be current.
The venue's own calendar for August 2026 lists an event every day but only one entry branded 'open mic' anywhere: a 'Comedy Open Mic' presented by Red Eye Comedy on Tuesday, Aug 4, 2026, not weekly and not on Thursday (checked Aug 14, 2026) [s1]. Other sources separately claim the open mic runs Thursday, Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday, and none of these claims has been confirmed over another.
Weekly on Thursdays, 7:30 PM. Only one source reports it.
A regional listing site's calendar shows 'Open Mic w/Beatrix Whalen, Ed Barney @ Mecklenburg Inn' on every Thursday shown, Aug 13, 20, 27, and Sep 3, 10, 2026, confirming a weekly schedule (checked Aug 14, 2026) [s1].

The venue's own schedule page does not mention an open mic (checked Aug 14, 2026). Archived copies of that same page exist online from between September 2024 and January 2025 [s1]. They could not be read this time. Other sources describe an open mic at this venue, and the contradiction between the venue's current silence and those claims remains unresolved.
