Detroit House of Comedy's Tune Up Tuesdays is a long-described weekly comedy open mic; current status could not be confirmed, and its own event and ticketing pages were inaccessible. An archive shows the page was captured as recently as Mar 13, 2026, unread [s1]. A listing site's most recent dated instance was Sep 16, 2025, about 11 months earlier [s2]. That alone is too old to confirm the event is still active.
Detroit Shipping Company's own events calendar lists 'OPEN MIC: Art In A Fly Space' with four upcoming Tuesday dates in August 2026 — the 4th, 11th, 18th, and 25th [s1]. The genre is not stated by the venue and comes from an open-mic listing site only.

Weekly on Saturdays, 6:00 PM. The Venue's Website does not mention it.
As of August 2026, Good Cakes and Bakes' own website makes no mention of an open mic anywhere, and its posted hours end in the early evening, which may not leave room for a later open mic [s1]. This Saturday listing comes from an open-mic listing site only.

A 2016 Metro Times feature places Sweet Speak at Good Cakes and Bakes, 19363 Livernois Ave., Detroit, every 3rd Saturday, 6–9 PM, with a $5 cover [s1]. The venue's own current website does not mention it, which is consistent with a promoter-run monthly series that a bakery's own marketing might not list.

A 2016 Metro Times feature places 'Mahogany @ the Museum: Detroit, Open!' on Friday, July 1, at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History, with a $5 cost for performers and $15–$20 for patrons through a ticketing site [s1]. That patron cost is well above this site's typical range for an open mic, so this may be a produced, ticketed event rather than a casual walk-in mic.

The sources disagree about whether it still runs.
An open-mic listing site says Motor City Java House runs a weekly Saturday open mic, 10 PM, free [s1]. A promoter's Eventbrite series, 'Live on Lahser,' instead describes a last-Saturday-only, 8 PM event that ran April-November 2025. The venue's own events page still does not mention an open mic (checked Aug 14, 2026) [s2]. The promoter's page no longer lists 'Live on Lahser,' suggesting the 2025 season did not renew [s3].
Weekly on Tuesdays, 8:00 PM. The Venue's Website does not mention it.
An attempt to check Northern Lights Lounge's own website for a mention of an open mic did not produce a reliable reading (checked Aug 14, 2026) [s1]. A broader check found no independent corroboration for a Tuesday open mic at this venue either.

A review site marks Manila Bay Cafe as closed, but the label carries only a refresh date, not an actual closure date (checked Sep 7, 2026) [s2]. A map service shows no named business at the address [s4]. The Spotlight Open Mic itself is known only from a 2016 newspaper roundup, so whether it still runs is unknown either way [s1]. Whether the venue has closed remains unconfirmed.

An open-mic listing site describes Syd Burnham's Open Stage as a roving series with no fixed venue, running on an irregular 'Selected Sundays' schedule [s1]. A possibly matching personal website for the host was found but not treated as confirming, since a name match alone is not enough. Current status is unconfirmed either way.

The first and third Saturday of each month, 9:00 PM. Only one source reports it.
A public record from the City of Detroit gives The Artist Village Detroit's address as 17336 Lahser Rd [s1]. This corrects the address previously listed, 17736 Lahser Rd, which does not exist. A review site and directory listings give the same corrected address. The claimed 'Creative Juicez' series and its 1st-and-3rd-Saturday schedule remain unconfirmed by direct check, and no ticketing listing was found.

As of August 2026, The Carr Center is a real, active Black arts and culture institution. No open-mic listing site or other source corroborates a Wednesday open mic here. The phrase does not appear anywhere on the venue's own home, programs, and events pages, whose current programming is dance intensives, an artist residency, and a summer showcase [s1]. There is no statement that the event has ended.

The Congregation's own Eventbrite page confirms 'Open Mic Night @ The Congregation Detroit' running every 3rd Friday, with an upcoming instance on Aug 21, 2026 (checked Aug 14, 2026) [s1]. The same page shows another confirmed instance on Jan 16, 2026 [s2]. An earlier instance is also dated Jan 17, 2025, and the dates genuinely vary across a year and a half rather than repeating a template.

A 2016 Metro Times feature places The Drunken Retort Open Mic at HopCat, 4265 Woodward Ave., Sundays 8:30-11 PM, free [s1]. HopCat's own current Detroit page, checked Aug 14, 2026, does not mention an open mic anywhere [s2]. No more recent source was found to confirm this decade-old claim.

As of August 2026, The Magic Stick's own venue page shows only paid, booked touring and local-act shows, with no open mic listed anywhere [s1]. Ticketing sites likewise show only paid shows. This may mean the Wednesday open mic was miscategorized rather than that it closed — no dated closure was found either way.
A listing on openmicx.com lists this night, but may not be current.
A news article dated May 6, 2026, reports the death of The Old Miami's owner, Daniel Overstreet — not itself a closure. Its full text, a review site, and other pages were all inaccessible, so current status of the venue or its Thursday open mic could not be confirmed. A general reputation mention, including a 2024 'Best Dive Bar' award, is not a dated statement about this specific event.

Trinosophes' own website makes no mention of an open mic anywhere (checked Aug 2026) [s1]. A separate 2016 news round-up describes a different event at the same venue, the 'Urban Echo Poetry Slam Series,' on 2nd Wednesdays, with a slightly different address — that event has not been reconciled with the Wednesday open mic listed here.

Whether the Monday program is open-mic format, a booked showcase, or still running at all could not be confirmed.
The Pretty Shaky String Band's own homepage carries a dated notice: 'The Shakys WILL NOT be playing at Dobie Road in July. See you back at Dobie Road in August 2026!' [s1]. This open jam has reportedly run for more than 45 years and received a 2023 Michigan Heritage Award.

An open-mic listing site names Dessert Oasis Coffee Roasters in Ferndale as the host of 'Open Mic with Barelyon' on Tuesdays, dated Aug 13, 2025 [s1]. The listing's own text asks readers to check its comments or Instagram in case of a skipped week.

As of August 2026, Blondie's Food & Spirits' own events page, fully checked, still does not mention an open mic or Tuesday [s1]. The venue's own silence is not itself a statement that the event has ended.

Cafe Rhema's own home page has been fully checked and does not mention an open mic; a guessed events-page address did not resolve. There is no single fixed weekday.
A regional blues society's own calendar confirms multiple upcoming August and September dates for Cap'n Kirk's Open Blues Jam at The Philmore in Grand Rapids, 6–9 PM [s1]. Three of the listed dates fall on Thursday and one on Friday, an occasional day shift rather than a data error.
