Open Mics in California

Both sources give the same night and time, but neither confirms recent activity.

The sources disagree about whether it still runs.

As of Sep 6, 2026, the promoter's own current page says this poetry series has moved from Wrigley Coffee to The Nest in Bellflower, keeping its last-Friday, 7:00-9:00 PM schedule [s1]. Its RSVP page is a dated Partiful listing for a May 2026 instance with named performers [s3]. The new Venue's Website prints the same Bellflower address [s4]. A Long Beach poetry listing site still names the old venue, undated [s5].

The sources disagree about whether it still runs.

As of Sep 1, 2026, the venue's own blog post describing this event is dated October 2021 [s1]. No newer source describing it was found. The library's current events index doesn't mention it either [s2]. This is a weak negative, since the index may simply not reach back to a one-time post.

As of Sep 1, 2026, the venue's own events calendar, checked in full for August 2026, lists an open mic for musicians every Tuesday at 8 PM, appearing specifically on Aug 4, 11, 18, and 25 — every Tuesday of that month, inside a richly detailed, non-templated calendar where each day lists distinct named acts [s1]. The start time is corrected from an earlier placeholder of 7:30 PM to 8:00 PM per the calendar's own text.

As of Sep 1, 2026, the Venue's Website gave only a booking widget on this attempt. An earlier visit that same day showed real content, confirming a phone-number correction [s1]. A listing site's page for the venue confirms Monday and quotes it directly: 'This Santa Cruz mountain roadhouse open mic is every Monday night,' naming a person associated with the venue, consistent with genuinely sourced content [s2].

The third Friday of each month, 7:00 PM. Only one source reports it.

As of Sep 1, 2026, the venue's own current events page lists three upcoming instances, 7:00-9:00 PM each, that vary rather than repeat -- Sep 18, Oct 16, and Nov 20, 2026 -- each correctly falling on the 3rd Friday of its month [s1]. A linked individual event page confirms the same [s2]. This resolves an earlier discrepancy: a Sep 4 date shown before was mistaken; the 3rd-Friday pattern (Sep 18) is now confirmed directly.

A ticket page on eventbrite.com lists this night, but may not be current.

Weekly on Wednesdays, 8:30 PM. Only one source reports it.

The organizer's own websites both fail to resolve entirely (checked Sep 1, 2026). A ticketing site's category page for this event shows genuinely varying, upcoming instances at the correct address, including one dated Sep 22, 2026 [s1]. Real, current programming exists here. But this is a general listing page rather than one owned by the organizer, so it stays unconfirmed.

The sources disagree about whether it still runs.

Weekly on Tuesdays, 8:00 PM. The Venue's Website does not mention it.

The Venue's Website (re-checked Aug 31, 2026, fully read) has no mention of 'open mic' [s2]. The venue is also absent from an open-mic listing site's full curated database [s3]. The open mic was originally claimed by an open-mic listing site [s1]. This absence on the venue's own current site supports an unconfirmed status rather than a closure.

The sources disagree about whether it still runs.

Weekly on Tuesdays, 7:00 PM. The Venue's Website has gone offline since we found this.

The Venue's Website now serves unrelated content and no longer represents it, so this is not evidence either way (re-checked Aug 31, 2026) [s2]. The venue is absent from an open-mic listing site's full curated database [s3]. Its confirmed entertainment is Friday karaoke instead. This Tuesday claim comes from an open-mic listing site [s1]. It has no positive support, though that alone isn't enough to call it inactive.

Weekly on Wednesdays. Only one source reports it.

The Venue's Website lists, in present tense, 'Karaoke - Mondays 8pm / Free Pool - Tuesdays 6-9pm / Open Mic - Wednesdays 7pm / DJs - Thursday 9pm-12am' (checked Sep 1, 2026) [s1]. A social media post describes an open mic every Wednesday at 7 PM at this venue [s2]. An open-mic listing site also lists Wednesday.

A listing on bayareaopenmics.com lists this event, but may not be current.

The venue's main domain no longer resolves. Its current site gave access blocks on every page tried (checked Sep 1, 2026), none of which counts as evidence either way. An open-mic listing site names it a Monday open mic with no upcoming dates and a last event on May 4, 2026 [s2]. That directly conflicts with a Tuesday weekly claim [s1]. This contradiction remains unresolved.

As of Aug 31, 2026, another listing site's full venue database was checked and has no listing for this Thursday storytelling event. The original claim traces to an open-mic listing site [s1]. The venue's own dedicated page for this event, however, clearly states the current recurrence as the second Thursday of each month -- a distinct, well-documented page rather than a thin template [s2].

As of Aug 31, 2026, an open-mic listing site's dedicated page for this venue, last updated Aug 28, 2026, states the event runs the first and third Tuesday of the month, twice monthly, not every week [s1]. This is corroborated by the venue's own homepage, which shows an upcoming Sep 1, 2026 instance, a first Tuesday [s2]. They agree on doors at 7 PM and the show starting at 7:30 PM.

The sources disagree about whether it still runs.

Weekly on Wednesdays, 7:00 PM. The Venue's Website does not mention it.

A regional open-mic listing site's pages for this venue show only a Tuesday music night and a Thursday storytelling and comedy night, and no Wednesday event appears anywhere in its full venue database (checked Aug 31, 2026) [s3]. The venue's own homepage does not mention a Wednesday event either (checked Aug 31, 2026) [s2].

As of Sep 1, 2026, the website address listed for this venue was a squatted domain with unrelated content. The real site was found, whose Tuesday page states: 'Every Tuesday, the Starry Plough's award-winning open mic... Sign-ups begin at 7:30pm, show starts at 8:00pm. No cover!' naming the hosts [s1]. A listing site shows a next date of Sep 1, 2026 -- today [s2]. Neither source carries a publication date; confidence is medium.

The sources give the same night and time, but none confirms recent activity.

The Venue's Website could not be read (checked Sep 1, 2026) [s3]. A tourism site's post about the venue does not mention an open mic or live music, only general hours of Thursday through Sunday (checked Sep 1, 2026) [s4]. The only source naming a Thursday open mic is an Instagram post whose caption could not be read [s1].

A ticket page on eventbrite.com lists this night, but may not be current.

Both sources list this event, but neither confirms recent activity.

Occasional.

The club's own website and a city tourism events page could not be read on any attempt (checked Sep 1, 2026). Other coverage describes several ongoing open-mic-style programs here -- a weekly Wednesday contest plus university and first-timer mics. That's consistent with the many day-and-time rows on an open-mic listing site [s2]. An archived capture of the club's own site from Nov 4, 2024 shows an LGBTQ open mic [s1].

As of Sep 1, 2026, the venue's own official website describes this event, 'TUNESday Nights,' in its own words as a current weekly open mic [s1]. A local arts-district listing corroborates it, unchanged since Sep 18, 2025 [s2].

Both sources list this event, but neither confirms recent activity.

A curated comedy listing dated Aug 26, 2026 names a specific event, 'The Iron Mic,' at this venue [s1]. A city arts calendar (checked Sep 1, 2026) separately describes recurring stand-up comedy at the same venue in general terms [s2]. The comedy listing and the arts calendar don't use matching names, and neither pins down a specific day of the week.

The venue's events page lists this event, but may not be current.

The library's own event-calendar system remains an unreadable technical page (checked Sep 1, 2026), which isn't treated as evidence either way [s1]. Other unconfirmed information points to a June 2025 instance of this series, not verified elsewhere. The library is confirmed to run other current poetry programming as of October 2026 -- plausible support, but not direct confirmation.

A ticket page on eventbrite.com lists this night, but may not be current.

Weekly on Tuesdays, 6:00 PM. Only one source reports it.

A ticketing site says this event, hosted by a 30-year local host, runs on Tuesday [s1]. An open-mic listing site agrees [s2]. The listing site's forward dates are generated from a stored recurrence rule, not observed instances, so they confirm the schedule but not that it still runs [s2]. The ticketing series shows an end date four days before Sep 1, 2026, with no September instance yet visible [s1]. No cancellation notice was found.

The Venue's Website lists this night, but may not be current.

The only source found, a ticketing site's own listing, shows its last known instance as Dec 25, 2024 [s1]. That is about 21 months stale, far more than the roughly six months that would show a weekly event is still running. The host's own website could not be reached. No positive evidence of cancellation was found either, so it is unclear whether this is active or inactive.

Checked Sep 1, 2026: the venue's own dedicated Open Mic Night page shows a structured modification timestamp from Aug 27, 2026 -- five days earlier -- confirmed as a genuine update marker rather than today's date [s1]. The page gives specific operational detail: sign-up procedure, a waiting list, a $5 donation, and the exact room location. No contradicting source was found.

A page on metrosiliconvalley.com lists this event, but may not be current.

A previously flagged ticketing-site lead for this event turned out to describe a same-named but unrelated comedy club in Naples, Florida, and has been discarded as a name mix-up. No fresher source was found for the actual venue. The only remaining source is a magazine article dated Jan 5, 2022, which doesn't state a specific weeknight [s1].

A page on losangelesliterature.com lists this night, but may not be current.

Weekly on Tuesdays, 7:30 PM. Only one source reports it.

The Venue's Website suggests it may have ended.

Weekly on Wednesdays, 7:00 PM. The Venue's Website does not mention it.

As of Aug 31, 2026, the Venue's Website describes live music running nightly except Monday, but never uses the phrase 'open mic' anywhere on the site [s1]. Other sources agree the venue is at 2531 S Coast Hwy 101, Cardiff-By-The-Sea, but whether this event is open-signup or curated booked music remains unclear.

The third Thursday of each month, 6:30 PM. Only one source reports it.

The regional newspaper's event page for this monthly mic lists a start date of Dec 18, 2025 (checked Sep 1, 2026) [s1]. Other, differently worded posts on the same outlet's calendar describe the same '3rd Thursday' listing, one with an image uploaded as recently as April 2026, suggesting the newspaper keeps republishing it [s2]. The Venue's Website couldn't be reached, so this rests on that one outlet.

A listing on badslava.com lists this night, but may not be current.

Weekly on Thursdays, 8:00 PM. Only one source reports it.

The Venue's Website remains blocked on a second check (checked Sep 1, 2026) -- genuinely blocked, not evidence either way. No other source was found beyond an open-mic listing site.
